To hyphenate, or not to hyphenate, that is the question! It’s always hard for younger students to figure out which words get a space, which ones get a hyphen, and which ones just get glued together. Give them some practice with more common compound words with this sheet from have fun teaching. It’d be easy to add in some extension activities here. Kagan activities where they trade words sounds like a good idea, perhaps a card swap activity where they have to match up the other half of their word with the one another student is holding. Make it fun to learn this!
