One of my favorite sets of language flash cards is a list of interjections. It’s funny, because many of them we don’t often think of, but we use them fairly often. It’s sort of a lost part of speech, but they can pack in so much meaning into a syllable or two. Here are some examples you can download and print, as well as other sets of language flash cards. Take a look at these interjections and have your students practice one each day!

Writing essays doesn’t come overnight. It starts with writing sentences, then adding transition words and those 2-dollar vocab words. Have Fun Teaching has made a few exercises that help with the sentences part. Take this one for example, where students write 1-2 sentences about each season. This could very easily be transformed into an essay later, talking about the pros and cons of each season and ending with a nice conclusion about the writer’s favorite season. Why not give it a try?
