I love maps. I always have. I used to peruse social studies books for maps of troop movements, empire expansions, and all that stuff that dorky kids love. Get your own students to let their inner map nerds out! Encourage them with map studies, or free activities like the one shown here, where they get to learn their directions on a compass rose.

Well, science experiments might be a close second, but artsy-craftsy stuff and holiday packets of stuff are the bread and butter of a teacher’s soul, and there is so little time for them nowadays. Give in to the temptation and browse these pages here and pull out a few pages you like. I’ve always been surprised that even 4th and 5th graders get excited about doing activities or even coloring as morning work every now and then!

Of course, we didn’t have these fancy worksheets. Get your students’ handwriting up to snuff with these activities, or they’ll have sloppy handwriting for the rest of their lives!
